Bitexco Financial Tower

Bitexco Financial Tower, owned by Bitexco Group, a wholly Vietnamese company, is a skyscraper of 68 floors above ground and 3 basements which is currently under construction in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The building was designed by Carlos Zapata Studio, and is located in business district 1 of the city. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in September 2005. Construction of the tower was started in June, 2007 and the tower is due to finished by the end of 2010.

The tower will have more than 16 elevators of the latest generation that can reach any position and any floor in the building within 45 seconds. When the building comes into operation, about 10,000 people will work there. Because of its size, the project is designed with seven basements covering 33,000 square meters for parking and for equipment for the building’s operation. The tower is located on an area of 6,000 m² with the floor area of over 100,000 m². Total estimated cost of this project is more than $220 million. Upon completion, this will be the tallest building in Ho Chi Minh City, reaching 265.5m height.

Hanoi Landmark Tower

Hanoi Landmark Tower is a skyscraper under construction in Hanoi, Vietnam. This tower will have 65 floors and features a modern architectural style. The architect of the tower is Callison, an American company. Once completion, this tower will be among one of the highest buildings in Vietnam. As of 2007, the highest building in Vietnam is Saigon Trade Center in Ho Chi Minh City with 33 stories only. Upon completion, this tower will include offices, entertainment, shopping malls, convention center.

During 2000-2007, Vietnam has achieved an economic growth of 8-8.5%, thus leading to the increasing demand of office and shopping spaces in its big cities like Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Danang, Haiphong has been in rapid rise. Land and housing cost in these cities still keep expensive compared with GDP per capita in the country.

Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower

Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower is a supertall skyscraper under construction in Pham Hung Boulevard, Cau Giay district, Hanoi, Vietnam. The area is reserved for big companies to set up their headquarters there such as Agribank and VNPT. This tower is part of a complex of residences and office towers, including a 70-story office tower with the height of 336 m and two 47-story residence towers. The compound is located on an area of 46,000m2 and the total floor area is 579,000 m2, ranking 5th for the floor area of a single building in the world. The investor of this complex is a South Korea-based Keangnam. The investment capital for this complex is estimated US$ 1.05 billion.

According to the master plan, this complex features a 5-star hotel, offices, entertainment areas, retail spaces, clinics, convention centers, and is scheduled to be completed by 2010. Upon completion, Hanoi Landmark Tower will be the world’s 17th highest building, and will be the highest building in Vietnam. The second highest skyscraper in Hanoi and Vietnam will be the 65-story Hanoi City Complex.

Federation Tower

The Federation Tower (Russian: Башня «Федерация») is a skyscraper currently under construction as part of the Moscow International Business Center in Moscow, Russia. Construction of the towers began in 2003. In December 2009, the taller East Tower suffered a height reduction from 360.4 m (1,182 ft) to 242.4 m (795 ft), the same height as the West Tower.

The complex, designed by the German firm NPS Tchoban Voss, is being developed by Mirax Construction and is owned by the Mirax Group. The construction company for the East Tower is the China State Construction Engineering Corporation, while the construction company for the West Tower is Turkish Ant Yapi. The Italian Company Busi Impianti SpA is the contractor for the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Systems of the East Tower. The curtain wall for both towers was designed by the New York office of Thornton Tomasetti under the direction of Jean-Pierre Kocher AIA.

Shanghai World Financial Center

The Shanghai World Financial Center (Abbr: SWFC; simplified Chinese: 上海环球金融中心; traditional Chinese: 上海環球金融中心; pinyin: Shànghǎi huánqiú jīnróng zhōngxīn) is a supertall skyscraper in Pudong, Shanghai, China. It is a mixed use skyscraper which consists of offices, hotels, conference rooms, observation decks, and shopping malls on the ground floors. Park Hyatt Shanghai is the hotel component containing 174 rooms and suites. Occupying the 79th to the 93rd floors, it is the highest hotel in the world, surpassing the Grand Hyatt Shanghai on the 53rd to 87th floors of the neighboring Jin Mao Tower.

On 14 September 2007 the skyscraper was topped out at 492.0 meters (1,614.2 ft) and became the second-tallest building in the world; as well as the tallest structure in the People’s Republic of China, including Hong Kong. It is currently the third-tallest building in the world. It also had the highest occupied floor and the highest height to roof, two categories used to determine the title of "The World’s Tallest Building".

Nanjing Greenland Financial Center

The Nanjing Greenland Financial Center (simplified Chinese: 南京紫峰大厦, also Greenland Square Zifeng Tower) is a 450-metre (1,480 ft) supertall skyscraper currently topped-out in Nanjing, China with completion expected in 2009. The 89-story building will feature office space and retail space in the lower section, and restaurants and a public observatory near the top, which will be topped off with a spire. The tower’s stepping is functional, helping separate these sections.

The mixed-use tower which overlooks Xuanwu Lake became the second tallest building in China and the 5th tallest building in the world when topped out in 2008. An observation deck on the 72nd floor, 287 m (942 ft) above ground, will provide an unobstructed, panoramic view of Nanjing and the nearby Yangtze River, two lakes and the Ningzheng Ridge mountains.

Shin Kong Life Tower

Shin Kong Life Tower (Chinese: 新光人壽保險摩天大樓) is one of the tallest buildings in Taiwan at 51 stories 244.76 metres (803.0 ft). The rose-coloured skyscraper topped by a pyramid stands in Zhongzheng District, Taipei. Its first twelve floors and two underground floors house a Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store; the remaining floors provide office space and serve as headquarters for the Shin Kong Life Insurance Company. The tower stands across Zhongxiao Road from Taipei Main Station near the Asiaworld Department Store.

The Shin Kong Life Tower was Taiwan’s tallest building when it opened in 1993. In 1997 it was surpassed by the Tuntex 85 Sky Tower in the city of Kaohsiung. Both were overtaken in height by Taipei 101 in 2004.

Tuntex Sky Tower

Tuntex Sky Tower, or the T & C Tower or 85 Skytower (the Tuntex & Chien-Tai Tower; Chinese: 高雄85大樓), is an 85-floor skyscraper located in Lingya District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The structure is 347.5 m (1,140 ft) high. An antenna pushes the building height to 378 m (1,240 ft). The building was constructed from 1994 to 1997. It is the tallest in Kaohsiung, and was the tallest in Taiwan until the completion of Taipei 101. It replaced the Shin Kong Life Tower (244.2 m (801 ft)) as the tallest building in Taiwan when it was completed in 1993.

The tower has an unusual ‘prong’ design with two separate 39-floor sections, which merge into a single central tower rising to a spire. This unique design leaves a substantial space below the central part of the tower. The design was inspired by the Chinese character Kao (or Gao 高), meaning "tall," and also the first character in the city’s name.

Willis Tower

Willis Tower, formerly named Sears Tower, is a 108-story 1,451 feet (442 m) skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois. At the time of its completion in 1973, it was the tallest building in the world, surpassing the World Trade Center towers in New York. Currently, Willis Tower is the tallest building in the United States and the fifth-tallest freestanding structure in the world as well as the fifth tallest building in the world to the roof.

Although Sears’ naming rights expired in 2003, the building continued to be called Sears Tower for several years. However, in March 2009 London-based insurance broker Willis Group Holdings, Ltd., agreed to lease a portion of the building and obtained the building’s naming rights as part of the agreement. On July 16, 2009, at 10:00 am Central Time, the building was officially renamed Willis Tower.

Baiyoke Tower II

The Baiyoke Tower II, located on 222 Rajprarop Road in the Ratchathewi district of Bangkok, Thailand, is the country’s tallest building. It contains the Baiyoke Sky Hotel, the tallest hotel in Southeast Asia and the fourth-tallest all-hotel structure in the world, with 673 guest rooms.

The building is 304 m (997 ft) tall, or 328 m (1,076 ft) tall if its antenna is included. It has 85 floors, with a public observatory on the 77th floor, a bar called "Roof Top Bar & Music Lounge" on the 83rd floor, and a 360-degree revolving roof deck on the 84th floor. Construction on the building ended in 1997, with the antenna being added two years later, in 1999.
