MahaNakhon is a planned luxury mixed-use skyscraper to be constructed in the Sathon business area of Bangkok, Thailand. Designed by German architect Ole Scheeren, it will have the unconventional appearance of a glass curtain-walled square tower with a voxelated-surface spiral cut into the side of the building. Upon its estimated completion in 2012, it will become the tallest building in Bangkok at 313 metres (1,027 ft) and 77 floors.
Details on the MahaNakhon project were officially announced on 23 July 2009, with designs by German architect Ole Scheeren, partner of the design firm Office for Metropolitan Architecture. The building is being developed as a joint-venture between the Thai company Pace Development Co., Ltd. and Israel-based Industrial Buildings Corporation PLC. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2009, and completion is estimated by the year 2012. The total project value is expected to reach eighteen billion baht.
